so this is it... ive taking pictures of everything i could and have a pic with the measurments...

ill answer any questions i can. but i just wanna know if anyone could price this thing out for me...

If asking wether to sell or keep and your unsure. I would say keep the bike awhile and ride it is fairly easy to sell a bike at a later time, but you can't really unsell a bike. I have only regretted selling bikes have never regretted keeping a bike while longer. Plus if you wait to make your decision till the peak market in mid April you will likely get $100 more for the bike.

If you want to get an idea of worth price the components going by the sold section on ebay and figure 1/2 half for rough condition and on bike. If your not sure you should really do the work yourself. For starters the seat post is worth about $35 FMV.

The frame looks badly rusted.. the rust needs to be removed and repainted. If I were to sell this I would sell it as a bare frame with no paint on it.. take pictures before you ..do to prove what you have. The parts are probably more valuable than the frame in that condition. Shimano Dura Ace can polish up nicely..

Unfortunately the bike presents as forgotten a while ago and stored in a borderline hostile place.

Modolo stems just give me the creeps too, I forget if this is the one with the problems, they withdrew from the stem market.

It appears as if the bike does not fit you well, as I note the nose down saddle, it will push you forward.

I agree, as a whole bike it will be discounted heavily. More can be obtained taken apart, sold a la carte and tossing the things like the chain.
Taking it apart will verify that the stem or saddle is not stuck.
Clean up the chrome carefully, most of it will come back.

to behonest i heard repainting and re decaling the bike made it loose value ...

Depends on the condition, you will never get good original condition value for it after a repaint. If you are selling it never makes sense to repaint it.

Selling it as a bare frame with no paint is also a very bad idea. The next owner will want to see what it looked like. You should clean up the rust spots for sure so the new buyer can really assess how much damage it has done.

I would sell the components and frame separately as well. It doesn't look beat on to me, but neglected and there is a big difference, though beat and neglected often go hand in hand. I think that dura-ace group cleaned up could fetch $300. and the frame and fork probably $150-200, maybe $100 for the wheels, but only after a good cleaning and lubing. maybe more work than you want to put into it if your time is valuable. I would ask $400 for it on your local CL, it will sell.

I'll offer you $40 shipped for the saddle right now.

Would agree that the OP could realisticaly get $300-400 for the bike as a whole as is. Figure $100-150 or more and slightly easier sell througly cleaned and lubed with new tires, barwrap, cables and some treatment touch up on the rust one would only likely break even given the work and cost. The other option is to part the bike out and sell on EBay which is a lot of work $250-300for the Dura ace stuff $100 for the other components and $150 give or take for the frame.

see the thing is i wouldnt mind keeping it... i would love to have the shifter assemblies on the brake handles...do a tune up and ride it...but i wouldnt know where to start or what i could trade off the bike to put what i want on it...

i know the seat (saddle) doesnt suit me...im 290 and its too small for me...

the main focus is to ride and loose weight again...but didnt know whether to keep and restore slowly or just sell...

since the price isnt gonna help me even buy a new bike...might aswell keep it and see what i can do with it...

Well if that is the case buy some decent tires and clean up and start riding. You can fix up clean restore/ replace the pits and pieces one at time while you ride and enjoy the bike as you see fit. I suspect that you will keep the bike and get a lot of enjoyment functional riding out of it.

New chain, cables and housing for sure... get it overhauled and get on the road.

just deathly afraid of the shifters....already nearly died twice here in l.a. tryin to use these type of shifters...lol

If that were my bike and I wanted something less racy for my size, I would pay the tiny fee here to join this forum and offer the Colnago for trade for a hybrid or sport bike in my size. Members here like projects like your Colnago and may have stashes of bikes perfect for you in prime ready to ride condition!
