Hello fellow BF'ers,

See below for a mystery Rossin Frame I picked up a few years ago. Some of you may recognize these pictures from my C&V post. I had the intention of building it up, but alas other things got in the way. Now I'm planning on selling it.

Any idea what this frame will fetch? I'm in a big market, Chicago, but I think ebay might be the way to go. Would waiting until the spring be a better idea? Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have any idea what tubing it is? Is there 'rifling' in the seat and downtubes at the BB?

What size is it? valentines day is upon us and I know a young lady whould love a Rossin

I helped a mate restore a Rossin almost exactly like that. It is a good quality frame with a mixed bag of mid-high end components.
He got the complete bike for under AUD100, because somebody had attacked it with house paint, and the seatpost is stuck. luckily, it is stuck at just the right height for him!

When I bought it on ebay, it was listed as having SLX tubes, however I just checked for rifling and did not notice groove on the inside of the tubes. Given the campy DO's, internal housing, and what other members have suggested, I'm fairly confident it's Columbus SL.

I've both heard that Columbus developed SLX to accommodate the braze-on front derailleur hanger, and a rebuttal of that "fact". But in general, SL frames will use clamp-on FD, those with FD b/o are SLX.

Here's a couple from here on BF. The same thread, though, had some disputing the claim.

Thanks for the follow though. I think the frame predates SLX tubes, though I'm really not sure.

The fork steerer tube will have rifling if it's SL

Brian was referring to the steerer only, not the frame tubes. SL, SLX both get a r ifled steerer. (System won't allow that horrible word :rolleyes:)
