Value '84 Stumpjumper & selling
Please advise on your thoughts about value of '84 dark blue (great condition) Stumpjumper. It's been hardly ridden and I love it but not able to ride much anymore and want to get my daughter a new bike instead. I live in the Bay Area and also appreciate thoughts about selling at best price or trading in for another bike. Original everything. Thanks..Having problem uploading picture but will keep trying. Thx..

We need photos, preferably outdoors and from the drive side. If you want to list and sell here, a membership cost is next to nothing.
FYI, this is Stumpjumper central as some of us have 3 or more.

2. If it's all original (including tires), in very good shape, and not tiny, you are looking at $400+. Non-original tires, seat, etc. the value drops very quickly.
For the other stumpy listed above $400 is probably twice what they would get. You can find these fairly regularly; but all totally-original in good shape will fetch a premium.

An '84 Stumpjumper is a nostalgia bike, for those who came of age and started mountain biking back then. It isn't rare or all that collectible. So it needs to be nice and complete with original components. A beat up old Stumpjumper is just another old rigid MTB worth $100 maybe.
