Thanks Guys. So no bike still. I am going to look at these 3. Which would be your number one choice out of these three bikes. Which would you visit first?
Trek 2100 The trek has Shimano RX100 Crank, Shimano 105 derailleurs.
Specialized road bike vintage Has Shimano 105 Group
https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/bik/4473195886.html Has Suntour derailleurs and Trektor brakes.

The Trek 2100, if it fits. If the Trek is too big, then the blue Cannondale, which appears to be a size or two smaller.

I am worried about the trek 2100 and the carbon/aluminum glue, horror stories i heard. What are your thoughts? The bike is 20 years old, and the searches on here all have people saying stay away from them.

I would imagine the Cannondale is way too big. 60cm frame which I believe had almost 57cm top tube. I'm 5'11" and that would be too big for me.

referring to the first Cannondale Crit,

this one might be ok

Cannondale road bike

Amazing how many of these people make no mention of frame size or any dimensions in their ads, as if the size is an after thought

Right - fit is the most important thing, and that bike is for a relatively taller rider. If the OP's wife is 5' 10" or taller, it might be a good bike for her . . .

I spoke to the guy about the Cannondale. He said bike was in really rough shape. He put cheap tires on it, the crank needs to be cleaned up etc. It has Suntour components, friction shift. This is the bike I think we will buy. Specialized road bike vintage Guy is the same guy, selling both bikes. My wife doesnt care for the pink, but it might be the best deal as it has good tires etc on it.

If you search for horror stories, you'll find lots of worrying about bonded frames, but few first-hand reports of actual problems. My best road bike has a bonded frame and I'll keep riding it without worry. Could a carbon/aluminum joint possibly crack or separate someday? Sure, but the bike could break in a lot of other ways, too, many of them more likely.

Whichever bike you get, make sure it fits. The Trek and the Specialized appear to be a little bigger than the blue Cannondale. If the Trek and the Specialized both fit, I would personally go for the Trek. If they're too big, the Cannondale looks like it would be likely to fit.

Ok, just found a 1987 Schwinn Super Sport with Shimano 600 package for 300 in good shape. Any comparisions between this and the specialized sirrus.

Unfortuneately it has. I cant find anything for less than that. So now I am down to 2 bikes, unless they sell before I decide. The specialized sirrus, or the 1987 Schwinn Super Sport. I cant decide between the two.

Whichever is in the best condition, and fits. Edit. Just looked up the Supersport. That was a fine bike in its time.
