Good advice above. In more detail: If I had that bike I might go for an eBay sale BUT only with careful planning and prep work.
That would include cleaning it up for maximum eye appeal and visibility, and taking many, many clear and detailed photos of anything that anyone would possibly be interested in. I would NOT necessarily do a normal overhaul on the bike, reasoning that anyone interested in it would likely want to do that work him/herself. (After all I'm a vintage bike nut and that's what I would prefer.) This is a judgement call though, might backfire if say the bottom bracket turned out to be pitted. So that's a judgement call.
I also have already packed and shipped bikes before, and I'd have to account for the time and money factor there. It is a LOT of work to do this properly, at least the first time or two, and there's always something that could go wrong. I made a silly mistake with the last bike I sold on eBay, which let two small parts go missing. Totally my fault, and the buyer was quite irritated when it arrived with those parts missing. Fortunately I was able to replace them quickly and he was happy and left good feedback. Oh, and also the bike box I'd gotten (for free, from a nearby bike shop) was a few inches beyond FedEx Ground's oversize dimension, so the shipping cost $70 more than I'd charged the buyer. I had a choice at the FedEx station of taking the bike back home, finding another box, etc, and delaying the shipment for at least a few days, or shipping it as-was and eating the charge, so I did the latter. Oh well!
So: eBay for maximum price, but only if you do the maximum work and everything goes right.
Otherwise, Craigslist, also with good photos, and willingness to put up with nutty low-ballers, tire-kickers, know-it-alls, and so on.
OR: you could join BF for its modest membership fee (see the top line) and put it on the FS list on the regular C&V forum, where you would get a select set of buyers, many of whom are experienced with packing and shipping bikes, and willing to do so for other members. That way you'd get (inter) national exposure but remove some of the hassle. You can't do an auction in the FS listings, but you could set a stong-but-realistic price and get buyers who know what is what. You'd probably also get questions and suggestions for photos etc that were actually helpful all the way around. That might be the best bang/buck proposition.

eBay can get you the largest market exposure, BUT there are lots of pitfalls to selling on eBay, and being a new Seller, you may fall victim to some catches that you are not aware of...
#1 Most Buyers use PayPal to pay of items. eBay and PayPal put an automatic holds on all payments to New Sellers for a minimum of two weeks after the money is collected, and until after the Buyer posts Positive FeedBack. The Buyer posting Negative FeedBack on a transaction means that you will never get the money unless/until the FeedBack is retracted by the Buyer. You will be forced to pay for the shipping out of your own pocket, and wait until the money is released.
#2 Do Not Use The eBay Shipping Calculator. While it is convenient, the shipping calculator is often seriously wrong because it does not take into account things like oversize, residential, signature, and odd shape charges added by the shipping company. Bikes are considered to be oversized, and there are additional fees involved. The shipping calculator will collect $40-$50 for shipping based on weight alone, and you will be stuck with another $100-$200 or more in shipping charges.
#3 eBay and PayPal Services cost money. About $15% of the amount collected from the Buyer goes to them. If you figure that something will cost you $50 by FedEx to ship, you need to collect the extra 15% (about $9) from the Buyer to cover your cost. Factor that in.
#4 Don't forget to cover the cost packaging materials and transportation to the shipping company, or the cost of having the shipping company pick the box/es up from you. The LBS around here charge $60 to disassemble and pack a bike into a box.
I would try to get a valuation and then try selling the bike on CL, before trying eBay. Much less hassle, not having to pay for shipping, and then wait to get the money. CL is Cash and Carry. but full of flakes. eBay can have just as many problems. I have a mountain bike for sale right now on eBay, and I've sold it four times, but have not been paid once yet.
I sold a set of new Shimano Ultegra 600 Non-STI brake levers, and the Buyer claimed they were used, then filed a claim against me with eBay, swapped parts on my new levers and sent them back without the original factory packaging. I am out the value of the levers, plus the eBay Fees, and the PayPal Fees. eBay and PayPal are rigged in the Buyers favor now, Sellers can't even post Negative FeedBack when they get ripped-off by Buyers. And it looks like the previous Seller Protection Plan to reimburse Sellers when they are defrauded by Buyers is no-longer in effect. eBay is Seller Beware/Seller Hostile.

It does look like it needs a good cleaning. I would suspect a good overhaul is actually in order. That would involve stripping all the parts from the frame cleaning and waxing the frame, the cleaning and reassembling all the parts.
If you don't have the tools, time and skill to do a good overhaul/tuning of this I would suggest just raising the seat about 3" and turning the handlebars a little so the ends point toward the rear axle. Then list it on CL for $300 and take the best offer. If you can get $150 for doing next to nothing that is better than having the bike sit in the corner or spending $100+ to having a shop overhaul it and only selling it at $300.

There are so many variables to selling and shipping a bike properly, I would think long and hard before I start with a complete bicycle.
I would just buy a membership here and post it on this forum. You certainly won't get top dollar, but you will likely get a smooth transaction.
I'e sold a bike or three to forum members and they were nice transactions in each case.

Some of the RB 1s are worth more than others though.
Just remember, some of us have been buying and selling for a very long time.
I would use all of the info here, get the bike ready for the market and get your plan together.
Shouldn't be very hard to sell it with all of the college kids going back to school soon.

Just clean the hoods (I use borax and water), wash bike with Dawn and water, get good saddle, clamp it in center of rails and raise it to about 1" above the bars, lower the stem about 1/2", take pics then $400 easy on portland CL.
Clean camera lens or use better camera, also.
