Thanks for your input, Bill! A Japanese friend of mine left this with me years ago when moving back. It's been hanging in my garage and I'm tying to figure out if I should try to sell it (and if so, what I should ask for it) or donate it to a local bike shop. I know next to nothing about bikes, so that's why I'm here to get some expert opinions. I rinsed the dust off it, but otherwise didn't polish it. The bar tape needs redone, for sure. I think it might be the original and that's why it is starting to go. I was guessing 75 due to stamp on bottom of main tube. Where would I find dates on Suntour bits?

I live in Portland, so I was thinking maybe the local craigslist would be the place to list it. Unless someone has a better idea? However, I'm now more confused than when I started this thread: I still have no idea as to ballpark of the value. I've googled, read multiple threads and looked up the 1997 value guide (Broan's?), but didn't see Takara Prestige listed. Anybody out there have a clue as a realistic asking price? $50? $500? I've no clue where to even start.
Thanks again for any help!!

you'll see a lot of people on craigslist asking rediculous prices for their old low end bikes, but its very rare they actually sell. i regularly see people list their schwinn varsities for $250 or more bucks (which is insane).

Thank you, zazenzach!!!! And Thrifty Bill, you were spot on re: the manufacturing date! Suntour bits (per vintage trek info) point to 1982!
