BARN FIND - Two Bikes - One Terrot - One UnIdentified...
First, I'm not really a "bike guy", but I know you don't clean-up something until you know what it is. These were in the attic of my wife's Aunts barn. They look old, kinda cool (especially the Terrot with that "Grenade" generator), and I thought I'd like to maybe pedal one around this Spring but would like to know what it is I've got here.
First the easy one (it's got a name on it) the Terrot.
Then this unmarked one (all I can find is, it has a Morrow coaster on it).
I first thought somebody shot it with a .22 but now assume these dents in the tube are for locating some kind of fixture that, maybe, holds stuff?
On this last one, I'm not sure what's going on with the paint, It almost looks like a Candy Apple RED coming through (that's not rust) the Black. I would think it could have been repainted but the White accents look so good (plus the way the White goes into the "dent" on the rt side up tube.
So, Again,,, if either one has any real value I'll just go hang it up in My Barn. If not I'll go-over it with Compound and Scotch Brite and use it!

Hello NoRalPh,
Welcome to the forum.
Your Terrot bicycle is a wonderful find. This French company also made motorcycles. If you enter the name on ebay you will see many of their vintage posters. They were purchased by Peugeot who kept the name going for a time. Your example is clearly pre-Peugeot which makes it fairly rare. It is a big plus that it has not been mucked with or abused. A very nice item for the right enthusiast.
there is some background information here in case your are interested -

The second one is a CWC Roadmaster, probably prewar.
if you part it you can make easy 2...300 $. I think the seat is a least 100. Plus: rack, generator and light (cool set), drop stand, pedals, fenders.
The frame in good condition is at least 150.
Nice finds. What is your location?

My wifes Aunt is 104. These bikes belonged to Her Mother-in-Law and Nephew (so they could be pretty old I guess ...)

I don't think I would want to part-out either one, they're so complete and if they're only worth a couple of hundred bucks maybe cleaning them up and riding them wouldn't be such a crime. I'm a "*** guy" and know sometimes it's a Sin to remove patina and actually use something that might have some real value. (OMG!!! you guys treat the word G U N as if it were a curse??? What kind of thinking is THAT? )
I'm in CT.
Imagine a world where This is all you need to secure your Bike
No Kryptonite, just this thing...
It appears to be French, says Cholain on it. Could it have come with Terrot? I have a box of accessories and a leather tool pouch that came with one of the two I guess.

I would advise to join and ask over at The Classic and Antique Bicycle Exchange | Collectible vintage and antique bicycle forum
Those folks are more into this style of bike esp. the Roadmaster.
Good luck.

Nice ride man, but why keep then ina barn for even more time when you can use them. I feel its beeter to show your bikes some lovin' instead of letting them get covered in dust. Just IMO

Hello Again NoRalPh,
wrt the Terrot bicycle, there is a club for this marque and they have posted a series of catalogues which go back to the late nineteenth century. You may enjoy exploring there to see if you can locate your model. Suggest beginning with the years 1938 & 1939. Please take good care of this wonderful item!

Please.
Great finds, I'd clean them up and ride them, leave the paint alone and save whatever you take off. You're not going to retire off them. See if you enjoy being a vintage bike guy ,if not, send them down the road to someone who is.
It's all good either way, everyone is going to be happy to see these old girls back on the road.
