Antique Raleigh Wooden rims and fenders - Year? Model? Original?
Hey guys, i have the chance of buying this nice Raleigh! I've never seen one like this before, it has wooden rims and fenders, also the breakes are super rare for a Raleigh. Just trying to determine if its original or a crazy invention hehe. What do you think?

Can you post a photo of the decal on the front of the seat tube? It appears to be somewhat mangled, but that's where the model name would be, if anywhere.
The brakes don't look that unusual to me; they, and the crank, and the axle wingnuts all look like early 1950's stuff.
There should be a date on the rear hub.
I don't know what to say about the wooden rims and fenders. I haven't seen that feature on a Raleigh, but what do I know. What size are the tires?

It is a Raleigh club racer, maybe a Reg Harris, 50's most likely. The wood rims & fenders aren't original on "the all-steel bicycle" but are a nice feature and were probably added by the original racer-boy.

Sorry rhm, i will see the bike today and can check out the year on the hub.

Right, the levers are unusual, but not exactly rare. The bike is worth getting, by all means you should jump on it if it fits you.
If it is a Reg Harris with 531 (look for a 531 decal, on the seat tube beneath the saddle) it could be a costly bike.

Fender stays part way up the seat stays are a clue to the date.
