Is this a 70s PX 10? (It was)

If so... $150-200 is good, ya?
It looks like possibly 700c wheels, doesn't it?

p.s. Sorry everyone for all the threads recently!

Not a lot of pics to go by but this could be a pretty nice Peugeot as it looks to have forged rear dropouts. It looks like there is a reynolds 531 sticker on the downtube by the shifters. The crank could well be forged which is also a sign of a decent quality bike (assuming that the crank is original, on old Pugs forged cranks were generally used on their nicer bikes). Those could be mavic rims as well. This could be a pretty good bike but need better pics to make that call.

I can't identify it as a PX-10 but it's certainly a nicer frame based on the chrome stays and nice looking dropouts. It's worth a look.

Thanks folks. I'll see if he emails me back.
I'm amazed at what you guys can tell from that crappy pic!

What would it be worth if it has a 531 frame, Mavic rims, and a decent groupset?
I just snagged a Trek 600 this morning, so I'm not going to pay over what it's worth
The kickstand, aero bars, and mirrors double the price I bet... (LOL)

Looks related to this bike, except the chrome on the chainstays... I know it ain't worth $1500...

The crank arm looks like a Stronglight 93, definitely worth checking out.

bingo!

machine cannot be much older than 1975 nor much later than 1977, final year for verot's 93.

I'd buy this bike if it were my size at $150 without blinking an eye assuming it has a reynolds double butted main frame. It's pretty decent deal at $200 as well. A lot depends on where you are. Tough sell in a mid size city; easy to sell if you are in a larger city with a good used bike market.

Great to hear.
I guess maybe it's a pY-10? I found a brochure that says they could be custom colors and configurations...

Those are rare. I've seen one or two pop up here. Doesn't look like one to me. Looks more like a PKN 10 with the reynolds main frame but really hard to tell from the pic. So why haven't you gone out to buy the bike and shared the pics with us?

the PY10 launched in 1976-77 and came fitted with model 99 chainset. the left arm of the machine under discussion is clearly a 93.

The pictures tell me that you are going to do have to do a lot of work to this bike if you buy it. Do you have the skills, parts, and tools to work on a French bike that clearly needs work?

Crank could also be a Nervar Star.

Looks like a PX to me but it needs a lot of work. I'd still like to see better pictures.

Front and rear rims look mismatched but the hubs look to be maybe Phil Wood? IDK but for $150-200, as mentioned earlier, I'd go for it.

Looks like a PX-10 from the mid to late seventies to me. Be aware, this was the extremely steep headtube and seattube era for PX-10s. For some reason, Peugeot greatly increased the frame angles for a few years, a frame I had measured 75 degrees for the seattube and 76! degrees for the headtube. It made a great out-of-the-saddle climbing bike, but I couldn't get comfortable on it otherwise (not enough setback). Strange thing is they still used long chainstays with the steep seat tube. Notice the gap between the rear tire and seattube in the frame in question, also how close the front tire is to the downtube. I wonder what was going in Peugeot's design dept during this period...

Thank you for chiming in (and also for your website in general!).
what could I look for when I see it in person tomorrow to confirm that it's a px10?

That's a good find at $150-$200. If the OP doesn't go out and buy it, I will,

I would say it is a nice project worth around $250 to the right buyer. Yet it is going take that much or more in parts and labor to get it back into nice riding shape. Full rebuild tires all new consumables, the wheels will need to be rebuilt replaced .
