74-76 Peugeot AO8?
Just picked this one up yestertoday, it has really nice paint, most of the original components: cranks, simplex shifter, simplex rr derailleur, braze on (one side D ring?) DT simplex shifter, sach hubs + wolber rims (one tacoed badly, but forks straight!). I think someone put a new seat post and wright leather saddle on it, which is actually not in the picture as the seat post had a bevel which made it so I couldn't lower it much. 58 Cm ish, cotter pin crankset with only one pedal, so I replaced pedal with some others lying around atm. Today I repacked the BB with new bearings and grease, repacked the headset, ran new cables / cable housing, took everything off, quick scrub down, put it all back together and it works great. I had a pair of 700c arraya rims from an old trek, so I threw that on with a NOS pro compe 5 speed cassette. Pretty sweet lil project, just need some new handle bars grips and tires. Took me about 3 1/2 hours :/ Any thoughts are appreciated, cheers!

Glad to see you picked that one up. The frame and graphics are beautiful. They're good bikes, and take a bit of time to get the right stuff on them. Mine was missing a few little bits like the right bolts and nuts for the chainrings, the little plastic wings for the downtube shifters, the right ferrule and screw for the front derailleur. Found a whole bike in drastic shape for $20 and snagged those parts off of it, cheaper than ebay replacements.
Enjoy it.
Enjoy it.

Nice looking bike. Looks a little big unless you like to be able to have both feet flat on the ground while seated. I think this originally came with drop bars but someone did a nice hybrid conversion on it.

I have owned several UO8 bicycles, not to mention UE8 and other similar models. Great bikes for recreational and commuting needs. Not the best for competitive interests, but all in all, an entry level vintage bicycle that has near legendary ride quality.
This bicycle, found at the local landfill site, features all original issue components, right down to the saddle, which I found at a yard sale the next day...
