Schwinn Prologue funny bike
Owner of the LBS has a swell Schwinn funny bike hanging around. It probably hasn't been ridden in 25 years. I believe its an '88. The photo below belongs to another forum member and isn't the bike in question (I don't have a picture of it), but looks pretty close for reference. The bike I'm eyeing has perfect paint, Shimano 600 SIS (6208 or 6400 I think), but both tubies are toasted. What do you offer? The market for these is so limited that its hard to get a handle on value.

That is probably close for a Schwinn import.. perhaps even less.
What does the owner think?
This one has been up on Craigslist in Eugene for quite some time, reposted several times.
Cinelli Time Trial/Funny Bike
Looking around a bit, here are a couple of Nishiki's for $250 and $475

I thought I'd cruise past Alpenrose Velodrome last Tuesday. I made a couple of laps, but with 43˚ banking on the walls, it just looked wicked. I suppose I just need some practice and some speed... but that just seemed STEEP.
Do you have a place to ride it? I see there is Penrose park in St. Louis. Perhaps you need to organize a C&V day at the park.

Hi,
Just a few inputs from a Linear owner. The Prologue looks like an uncomfortable ride. While most people complain about funny bikes being unrideable, but I don't find mine any more uncomfortable than a stiff road bike and I'm old. I usually only use it for a few quick sprints around the neighborhood. They're not meant to be daily riders.
The Cinelli looks great, but way over priced. I don't consider Shimano 600 Biopace to be top end. The Nashville Linear is trashed. It sounds like it is beat up and the drive train is not original. The Indy Linear is in better shape, but the chain rings and those ugly bars are replacements.
Anyway, if you really want the Prelude as something unique for personal use, I'd start the negotiations at $300 and ask the shop to include new tubulars.
Good luck.
