Curious Colnago Appraisal
Hello all,
I'm back with another vintage Italian bike, this one much nicer, though more expensive, than the last.
The seller identifies it as a 1983 Nuovo Mexico Special. It appears to have (and the add says as much) crimped top and down tubes consistent with a NM, but it also has chromed lugs, more commonly associated with Superissimo. I've also not come across either the colour or decal combination in my (limited) research. Full Campagnolo SR groupset. Seller is asking $1200.
I risk getting scooped on the sale here, but I'm really interested to know your thoughts on the model and asking price.
Cheers,
G.

If it fits buy it.
Elements that would make this bike not worth it would be trashed bearing races, stretched chain and worn out freewheel.

Not bad; that's not too far off from what that bike would have cost new!

Bike was assembled by a mechanic used to Recent index shifting.
Could use a shorter rear dérailleur housing loop.

Thanks for all the replies. Any thoughts on the authenticity of the paint or decals? Neither are deal breakers for me, I'm just curious to know what I'd be buying.
Consensus seems to be to go for it. Now all I need is to come up with the money. Don't suppose anyone is willing to spot me $1200? I'm good for it, I swear.

Kind of hard to determine the originality of the paint and decals without seeing it up close. The Ray Dobbins site (https://www.raydobbins.com/misc/Colna...go_catalog.htm) shows an early Mexico with crimped tubing and chromed lugs, so it does seem that it is possible.
Just tell me where the bike is and I'll be happy to buy it for you. Honest, I'll turn it over to you as soon as you can afford it!
