Value Nishiki Prestige
I just bought a Nishiki Prestige for $130 and was wondering if anyone could value it for me. According to the serial number, the frame was made by Kawamura between 1985-87. Has sunguard derailleur. It's got some cosmetic damage and the gearshift needs to be reattached. The seller had taken it apart to repaint, then cjanged their mind and put it (mostly) back together. All other parts appear to be original, though I'm a newbie. I was planning on taking it to an LBS for a tune up and using mainly it as a commuter. If anyone can provide insight on how much it's worth and what I should pay attention to for a tune up it would be much appreciated.

id say you should be happy they did not get to the repaint-as it looks fine from here( I ride in the sf bay area..the more dings in the paint the better) its been partially dissembled as you know.. but as long as the parts are still there its a great bike.
If I were you... i'd spend some time learning on the internet and see if I could fix her up on my own. save lots of money and you get a real feeling of ownership once you take that first ride.

In current condition?...maybe $80. It doesn't work.
Fixed up, it's probably rth $200 around me. Might take a bit to sell at that price given the small frame size.

The Prestige is middle line-up for Nishiki and yours should be made of Tange 2 double butted steel (main tubes). It's a good rider if it fits.
The frame looks okay. The components look okay. Everything looks okay on the outside. The big question is if the seat is stuck or the stem is stuck. Also everything should be re-greased and given new ball bearings. Some shops can charge upwards of 300 to do all of this.
It's a good time to start learning how to do everything yourself as much as possible to avoid putting that much money in to a bike that's probably worth around 250 max when in perfect working condition.

The price is basically fair if everything is complete no issues just needs assembled. These where really nice bikes with great ride quality performance for the price. With the nice small frame size and pink color it would go for $250-300 clean fully serviced ready to ride with good tires in it's local, most other markets it's a $100 as is and $200 ready to go bike.
