How much would you spend on a all original except the saddle and added rack. Paint looks to be in good shape. 27" wheels, suntour cyclone rd. That's all I can tell from the pictures. A person on Craigslist here wants $500.

Pass; that's a crazy price. My experience is that anyone who starts that high is unlikely to negotiate to a more reasonable price. The bike is worth around $200.

That's way to high.........that bike is in pretty good shape but it needs to be overhauled, new tires and probably some other consumables as well. Wheels may or may not be true. I might pay $250 if the wheels were reasonably good.

A 1983 bike is going to be pretty well worn. If the chain, bottom bracket, wheels, & tires are all original then bike is worth no more than $150 tops. But, condition is everything. If the bike is in mint NOS shape maybe much higher price is possible.

incazzare.
I had one and loved it, but $500 is high. If it's in really good shape, I'd think they could get $300-$350 for it. In OK shape it could go down to $200-$250. The frameset is probably worth around $100-$150.
IMO Trek in '83 was at their most iconic look, with a solid color headtube and seat tube panel, and the old school "TREK" lettering. People really like the look, which can drive price.

Constant tinkerer
Really nice bike but price is way too high.
"All original" + "original owner" = bike has not been maintained in ~30 years. Tires, cables, housing, all bearings, brake pads, etc all need to be replaced.
