1970 Gitane Track Bike
This bike was donated to our all-volunteer charity. For the past four years we have given over 2500 (yes, 2500) refurbished bikes each year to the needy in the Rochester, NY area. We sell items like this to help to pay our expenses, so I'd like opinions about the value of this track bike. It was identified to us as a 1970 Gitane. This is the nicer of two that were donated. I'll post the other (older) one next.
Campy hubs.
Stronglight skip-tooth crank.
Nice lug work.
Profile saddle.
Mavic rims?
Thanks for your help,
Fred

That stem and handlebar combo alone is worth some coin. Bike looks repainted and Gitanes aren't the most desirable track bikes. Really nice collection of parts there though. It should sell quickly at $500.

I would part that bike out in a heartbeat. The least valuable item on it may be the frame due to the respray.

Ugly repaint job too. The value in the bike is in the parts. Still you have to figure that this is good quality frame given the quality of the components.

Looks to be a fairly nice bike with some valuable components. Yet it has some issues not so great paint with some rust in places, looks to need new tubular's, the seat pedals and chain are replacements and don't really match the bike. Right now I think you could get $500 or so pretty much as is and let someone else deal fixing up restoring it or parting it out which is what i would probably do.

I'd hate to see that bike parted out. Suppose it is all original? Aside from the unfortunate pedals, saddle, etc.
If it could be properly identified and dated, it could be quite a rare bike. And if it could be, someone might want to restore it with a proper paint and decal job.
