Help me with appraisal on my Raleigh Professional
I have what I believe to be a 1972 Raleigh Professional. I bought it back (just the frame) in '80 and set it up with a mix of Campy, Suntour, Shimano Durace, etc and rode it that way for about 15 years. In '97 I purchased my current DD a LeMond Zurich so the Raleigh was stashed in the garage. Last summer I pulled it out and decided to 'restore' it to the point where it at least was sporting all Campy (less seatpost). Anyway it's not all period correct. Here's the sort list;

REAR AND FRONT BRAKES: Campy Record

THE FORKS IS CHROME: Sloped crown, no pitting or rust
REAR STAYS ARE CHROME: Fastback seat stays with 1/2 chrome, no pitting or rust, seat stays also 1/2 chrome same great condition.
HEADSET: Avocet
PEADLS: Campy Nuovo Record
CHAIN: Hollow pin Regina
REAR COD: Regina

The paint is original, there are no dents or any bends. There are a few spots of rust where cable guide where on TT and water bottle cage on DT. A little on bottom sides of each CS and BB. It's running 27" rims the Brakes are short reach so I'm not sure if 700c would fit. It is setup with better components than when new and it rides like it. As far as a perfect restore, that wasn't my intent.

Nice Pro, tx for sharing. Value will be highly subjective and yours is mostly not original which makes it harder. Check completed sold listings on the evil bay to start with. I love these, but am no expert so I will wait for them to chime in and expect they will do so shortly. Also it will be much better if you get the pics over here.

daf1009 < I just spent time and effort piecing it together. It was a fun process and I now do get the enjoyment of riding it, but I don't think that I want to do the reverse. I may just keep it and ride it a while longer while I decide what to do... Thanks for the input...

I've been watching those on eBay. There's one listed for $3500 that they claim has only 200 miles on it. It look real clean, but that's a steep price.

And maybe get the date sorted out then pursue exact parts, meanwhile ride the heck out of it, love it and keep it. This is a beauty.
Also lose the zip tie and sort the cable out.

I think the somewhat parts mish mosh hurts a bit here, and the 27's are wrong for the bike (short reach probably is too). The 27s are the real hit here IMO...it's a less convenient size as a rider and a collector now has to pay for the "right" wheels.
That said, Raleigh pros are always desirable, and this one is a looker. Complete...I'd guess there's still a buyer on ebay at $700-$800.
Agree with parting out.

This appears to be the SN system used prior to 1975. A letter 'G' prefix would indicate 1972 production according to Sheldon Brown. A letter 'C' prefix would be 1968 but the paint scheme doesn't match the 1968 paint and decals according to the catalogs.
As to the value, I would agree with others about it being worth more parted out due to the mixed era of the parts. I would estimate $700 +/- in my area. It's a beautiful example of an early Pro and should be a great rider.
