Masi Gran Criterium
the serial number is 930 which makes it a 1975 MC 60 60cm frame
it has vintage cinelli giro di' itlaia bars
all vintage campy parts
brake levers,
172.5 cranks
52 gear
42 gear
27.2 seat post
pedals
rear and front derailleur
bottom bracket
shift levers are suntour handle bar mount
rear sprocket-has a suntour 7 ring
femco A4-700cm
i know I am forgetting something. i have it taken apart now to clean it except for the cranks and handle bars. just trying to get an idea of fair value.

Need more and larger hi rez photos especially of the fork crown. Wheels, hubs, close ups of the components and the complete bike would be nice. If I was a potential buyer I want to see all of those things. Condition is everything. And what level Campy parts? Are they period correct? Also what is that holding the brake housing on the top tube? Looks like tape. Not pretty. Lose the parts that don't need to be there.
Are you looking for value just to know or selling? If selling and you are seeking top $$ the the auction site would be the place. Although with a bike that may be a high dollar item like this you do the math on what fleecebay will take. I have sold things locally for less and came out with about the same $$ as an auction and didn't have to ship it. BTW it's my size.

That bike would make a great build. Being that it's a 60cm, you'll want to make sure you're over 7ft, can bench press at least 350lbs and can kill a bear with a stick.
If that's not you, you'd be better off selling it to someone passing through Mobile on their way Panama City Beach in 5 weeks.

Being that is Masi measurement, the actual measurement would be more like 58cm C-C. I did notice what looks like nutserts for the water bottle on the downtime; this would have been an add-on by a shop, not factory. Also, if it's running a 7-speed freewheel the rear has most likely been spread to 126mm spacing. Original spacing should have been 120mm.

Yes there is a 7 gear sun tour gear in the rear as I said on the post below. Yes you are correct there are holes in the frame for a water bottle. It is in the pic of the bike before I started taking it apart to clean it up some. Yes the 60 is most certainly is a Masi measurement. It's stamped on the bottom bracket. MC60. I'm not building it. I have had the bike for 17 years. I rode it for 7 before I put it up. I jhave extremely long arms and a long torso. I haven't ever killed a bear with a stick though. Lol

cool thanks man. i have a question. i was told the frame did not come with a the holes/nutserts for a water bottle ? i see on the bob hovey website the catalog for the bike says

The Campagnolo group should be from 1973, reportedly all Carlsbad made bikes used '73 components due to the large supply brought over from Italy when the shop was set up. The crank arms should have a 3 inside a diamond on the back side and the RD should have a Pat 73 stamped on the top.

Maybe the original owner replaced 170mm cranks with earlier 172.5mm? Unless building a museum piece, I personally have no problem with different dated parts as long as they are period correct. Many parts wore out, were damaged in crashes, etc. and were replaced with what was available. From the picture you have posted, the paint looks like it will clean up nicely.

Yes, original spacing unless by special order was 120mm. I have often seen 7 speed spacing wheels crammed in to a 120 mm frame.
The paint on these was often good… save for the interval where they experimented with a different primer/sealer.
The paint here is reasonable, but not terrific, but should not be repainted. That would just kill the value.
The bike is on the bigger side… tall guys are cheap.
From the images, description, I am not sure on all the components and condition.
If the cranks have a 3 in a diamond on the back sides, a decent chance they were original.
Value could be from $1,000 to $1,700 really depends on demand and the lugs. if it was smaller, more.
If the formed lugs, more desirable than the investment cast, cannot tell from here and this is right at the transition point.

i researched and found out from velobase classic rendezvous and the a classic campy sight the no campy cranksets have a date code before 1973. so the cranks are 1967-1972 Nouvo's 42-52 gears

i pulled the ole measuring tape out last night and it is 58cm but the rear spacing has not been altered. Lucky me

Nice bike. Would make a great project, and probably a pretty easy refurb if not looking for a pristine bike. Shows character for its age.
Regarding pricing, I would figure what a completed, correct bike would be worth in similar condition, and subtract what needs replacement or is missing. I'm basically doing the same thing to a '72 Cinelli right now. Ebay sold listings is a pretty good resource.
If I didn't already have two projects going on, I'd be all over this.

thanks. yah i have been looking at ebay, but cant find the same bike save one and its an itallian that looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor !!! 3300$ they want no way mine would ever be worth that. i will keep looking. i am starting to lean to keeping it and restoring as much as possible. bike is sentimental. my uncle had the same color but probably a 76-78. mark trione, he was a bad@@ !! missed the 80 olympic team by just a hair. one spot i believe. jimmy c boycotted that for us though. i was 10. the martano rims are the kicker. shop in ny said he hasn't had a set come through in over 10 years. suggested ebay italy lol anyways thanks for your time.
