seeking info - Fuji Allegro 27" Frame
Hello
I have a bike from around 1984
Fuji Allegro -12 speed - Valite 27" frame (tall height), 27x1 1/8 wheels.
Used only 1- 2yrs, barely, been sitting in basement since.
What might this bike be worth andr what other info should I have off of it
question: 2 x 6 sproket wheels means it is a 12 speed I hope.

I have an '85 Espree, valite is good stuff, I say keep your Allegro and enjoy it. Some respected BF'ers have told me early 80's Fujis are quality bikes no matter the original price, and they're right, I've had two and will be happy next time I find one.

Low value entry bike, but depending on your area, even entry vintage bikes have value. And any vintage Fuji will have some basic value.

If you plan on selling it I'd suggest taking a look at your local Craigslist and see what bikes that are comparable go for.......I checked in NJ and it looks to me that you could safely assume it's worth $100. In a hot market like Seattle, Portland or San Fransisco you might expect to get double that if it is clean and rideable as is. Ebay finished auction searches are a great tool to get a relatively close idea of worth as well.
On another note.......I say keep it, slap some new tires and brake pads on it and ride the tar out of it! It's a nice bike. You can't buy a brand new bike that is comparable IMO for the price your bike is worth.

Your right outside NYC and near two college/universities. Only downside is that's not an ideal bicycling area due to high population density. This is a bad time of the year to sell a bike because of the cold weather and soon you'll be into snow season. So if you sell it now, the $100 price may be right on.
In the spring I think you can do better than $100. I'd try for $150, maybe more.
BTW, I know the area very well, used to date a lady in Montclair Heights.
