1962 Raleigh Gran Sport

So it looks like I should just ask here--how much do you think this Raleigh Gran Sport is worth?

There are a few scratches on the top tube and near the seat collar. Also, it looks the Swallow's pretty much dead after 47 years. I tried oiling it+saddle soap/proofide, but the cracks are too extensive for any real use. Looks nice in the picture, though!

The Campy Gran Sport shifters/deraileurs look and work like new. The mudguards didn't fare as well+no pump.

Value varies mostly according to the market for such a bike. Here- $150-$200

Generally speaking, it's worth more than that, but it's hard to say how much more.

You have an odd duck of a bike there. Raleigh's before about 1973 are rare and one in that shape is especially rare. The problem is that just because it's rare doesn't mean it's valuable or that someone really wants it. It's a little too old for the nostalgia-seeking to be looking for that particular bike and it isn't so special that someone looking for an old bike wouldn't be happier with a $500 International or Professional. I'd say $300 to be a fair price on eBay if you can find the right buyer. I'd think of it as more a collectors item, but to get a collector's price you'll have to find an actual collector.

+1 Finding the right buyer is the toughest part. Probably an ebay sale unless you are in one of the bicycle hot areas.

+1 $300 to the right buyer.

You guys consider Boulder, CO to be "bicycle hot"? Certainly feels like it.

We'll see how it goes.
