1974 womens Schwinn Paramount

Picked this up on craigslist for wife the other day. She loves the bike so it won't be going anywhere, but I'm curious about the actual value.

1974 Paramount 531 tubing
The hubs, BB, heaset and cable guides, dropouts and fork ends are all campy
RD is Huret
FD is Suntour (as are the bar end shifters)
Crankset is a Specialite TA competion triple with the "granny gear"
Saddle is a Brooks B66
Not sure about the brakes, the just say scwhinn approved on them

All in all it in good condition. Very light pitting on the chrome and a couple spots where the paint is worn.

Thanks in advance for any help. Also any comments are welcome, I've been reading some about the paramounts but would love to learn more about the bike.

I like that Duopar/Pro 5-Vis build - classy and unique.

The bike was bought from the original owner, who was 80 years old. Her son worked at the bike shop that it came from and he's the one who built it up. It sounded like it was put together with extra parts lying around the shop.

P.S.: Is that a Peugeot decal on the seat tube? Something isn't right there.

Peugeot only made proper mixtes during the 70's with exquisite Simplex dropouts. So no, it isnt a roaring lion of france.

I thought the same thing! I would like to see a close up of the seat tube decals. They sure don't look Schwinn.

The very top band is the original, the large white band isn't. Perhaps some seattube rust damage covered up?

My wife road the bike to work today so I will have to take pics when she gets home. I can't remeber for sure, but I think that sticker is some sort of schwinn sticker... I'll check it this evening.

It's an age-old Schwinn sticker covering the fact that some absolutely ham-fisted moron whacked off one of the brazed-on rear brake cable housing stops, most likely when the Weinmann sidepull rear caliper was mounted.

It's a shame that drewing of any nature was done to this frame, but it's still a pretty bike regardless.

That makes sense. It sucks that someone would do that to a bike.

Thanks everyone for the input and info, I appreciate it!
