Rixe Road Bike
Hi,
I'm trying to locate a relatively inexpensive road bike since I just moved to a new (and very bike friendly) city.. There's one for sale on Craigslist, and the description says that it's in good condition - the brand is Rixe. An internet search tells me that it's rare and from West Germany, but I can't find any indication of whether $150 is a fair price or whether the bike is nice enough for riding at least twenty miles per day. Ordinarily, I'd just stop over to see it, but it's in the next town over and I'm concerned that I wouldn't know value if I saw it since I'm new to the road bike world.
Any help is much appreciated!

forgot the link
Here's the link..looks like I forgot it in the original post. I talked with the owner and it's a 10-speed.

Looks lower end, probably worth about $100, maybe up to $150 because it's a fairly uncommon German make. Offer $100, see what happens. The seller might accept, or might counter-offer.
You could probably pick up a better, but more common bike for the same $150 the seller wants.

Thanks!
Thanks for the advice - I thought about it some more, realized that $150 plus the gas money it would cost to drive and pick it up was too much, and found a ladies' Schwinn Worldsport 12 speed from around 1985 in pretty good condition that's actually exactly the right size for my height at the same price. Hopefully that was the right decision!

Good call, I'd say.

I have come across this brand before. Yes it is German, sort of like the tons of French brands that showed up during the bike boom. I think $100 is pushing the limit of how much this is worth. Nothing out of the ordinary.
