Moser Champione Del Mondo value

https://cgi.ebay.com/F-MOSER-CHAMPION...#ht_500wt_1182

I saw this bike first on ebay, and then it later appeared in the " eBay / CraigsList finds - "Are you looking for one of these!?" forum. What does everyone think? Are the frame+components worth $435+79(shipping)? If so, at what point in the hypothetical bidding war does it cease to be a good deal?

I'm looking to get a bike for my 5'11" girlfriend and I'm mainly interested in vintage Italian steel. I have a budget of up to $600, but I'm very patient and concerned with value, so I can easily wait for something better. I'm relatively new to cycling and very new to the forums, so any help is appreciated.

no I think this one is a little over-confident: it's a very nice frame, but built of Aelle tubing (the lesser model Columbus tubing) and has a few more deficiencies. The components are second-string (tho not bad, just not worth as much) and the levers are missing their hoods. With $600 to spend, I think you can do better...keep looking. Do you know for sure if that size will fit your 5'11" GF? I'd double check her stand-over requirement.

I agree. it is nice but a bit over priced although, you don't often see a pantograph GPM crankset it is not worth the $550 it would take to get it on the road. (current price 435, ship 75, hoods 30-50)

on the ohter hand, like a posted was whining about there does not seem to be alot of nice decent priced 59-60 frame/bikes out there right now.

I'd wait. Mid level frame, currently overpriced IMO, or at best borderline. It's hard to tell with the Italians, they go for good money usually. IT might go for close to the BIN price, for all I know.

59-60 shouldn't be too hard to find, though it might be big for your GF. Get her sized to a bike first, then start searching.

If you're set on Italians, you might want to start searching some of the lesser known marquees as well. Somec immediately comes to mind for some reason, as does Viner and a few others. They tend to be priced lower than say, Pinarellos.
