Another Raleigh Sport, a Schwinn and a Kia?

I got a phone call from a guy saying he had a bunch of old bikes in his barn along w/ some parts and asked if I wanted them for free. So I went over to check them out and these are the "best" or most unique of the 5. There was also a box of parts/ tools w/ a few park tools, shimano freewheel removal socket and a track stand. I also found a Huffy mechanical speedometer w/ cable. It looks kind of cool and quite 60's. Here are some pics of the bikes. My best guess on the Raleigh would be an 1980 (rear hub has 80 stamped into it) and the others I have no idea. The Schwinn Speester says Chicago on the headbadge. The Kia, not the foggiest. It has a nice rear rack thats made in Switzerland (I now have 2 racks like this) and some cool looking shifters. Just curious if there is any value here. The bikes are filthy, but they should clean up fairly well. I'm pretty sure they are all going to go to the local Co-op, maybe not the Kia, at least not yet.

The Raleigh looks like a mid-80s model (83-86) from the time that Raleigh had withdrawn from the U.S. market and Huffy licensed the name from them. The RALEIGH font looks the same as on my Raleigh Marathon which is from that era. No Brooks saddle, no herons on the chain ring, funky foam grips. It looks like a cheap knock-off of a Sports, which may very well be what it is. Kind of interesting in that the Sports doesn't even show up in the catalog from that era overon Sheldon Brown's site.

Lots of Sheldon Brown's catalog scans are incomplete. Not sure that this font is Raleigh USA font (here is an '84 Marathon for comparison)

A sure way to figure the date of manufacture is to look at the 2 digit date on the SA hub.

Nice finds! Looks like there is only minimal rust, which is a good thing. I think that the KIA was a bike book era bike (and yes it was manufactured by the current Korean auto manufacturer)

OP stated SA hub date is 1980. It could be that Huffy put the bike together with slightly old stock around 1983. It's not exactly like SA hub technology was changing that much, year to year.

The headbadge would be able to tell the difference. If it is Raleigh of America, it is later and USA-distributed by Huffy, if it is Releigh Notingham or Raleigh ///// is from the British company

True, my Marathon says Raleigh Cycle Company of America on the headbadge.
