Old Peugot, Worth It?

I found an old Peugeot road bike that looks in need of a good bit of work for $40. It appears to have been sitting outside because the cables and chain look rusty. I have been looking for a rainy day bike to ride/commute, and this may fit the bill. It already has fenders and a rack installed. I haven't seen it yet because I was wondering if it was even worth seeing. Do you think it is worth the $40?

could be, hard to judge by those pics, but it may have some sort of TA-ish crank...maybe barcons...needs a saddle and beware of seized stem and seatpost if it's rusty.

I alway enjoy riding a Peugeot looks like in needs some work but as long as the mechanics are good and wheels are still in decent shape I'd say $40 isn't bad. Worth checking out... a bike like that would get snatched up quick in my town... fixed and probably sold to a college student for $150.

offer them $25-30 if its tires are flat...

$40? just the fenders and the rack are worth that much... Go grab it :)

That's kind of what I was thinking if I decide I don't want it after I would fix it up, assuming it is fixable. I am currently in a college town, so it probably wouldn't be hard to sell for that.

Might be a PA60 from the seventies? You might end up with more work than you hoped but it looks like a great deal.
