Miele " tournet road issue"

Hello, i have a miele " tournet road issue " that has been in storage for a very long time.

I would like to ask if anyone has an idea of it's worth? Is it a collectable?

The colour is a pearl salmon and is 56 cm frame, all original parts from new.

Is it this one?

Tange Infinity frame, Shimano Exage Motion (about 6th from top of shimano lineup then behind Dura Ace, Ultegra 600, 105, Exage Sport and Exage Action) components. Your bike looks in great shape, but it is priced at least twice as much as what it is worth.

Except for the fact that it's in Toronto. Markets can differ quite a bit, which makes this kind of query tough to answer. Seems high to me, but maybe not 2x given the market.

This is exactly at the level of an '89 Schwinn Traveler. Same components. Only differences are True Temper vs Tange (same level tubing) and the Miele has the internally routed cable. In any market, how much would a Schwinn Traveler fetch in this condition? $500 is way too high I think. That is italian steel territory :)

I just know that some other C&V folks have said that the Toronto market is off the hook. I don't disagree that it's high.

I'd be happy to get $200-$250 USD for it.

Also, in my opinion, overly spartan ads inspire less confidence in a buyer than ads which demonstrate a seller's knowledge.

Insane price in any market. $500 with a torn seat? And low end build?

+1 Similar build to a Schwinn Traveler. But a more attractive bike/appealing, so I would bump it some for that.

+1 Not enough detail, basically no detail in the ad. Of course, the additional details would just confirm it is overpriced.

Not collectable.

Buyers around here anyway would be attracted to your bike, chrome fork, nice color, clean. But it would need to be ready to ride (fresh cables, bearings, grease, good seat, tires, and tubes), and might bring $225 to $250.

In storage for years = Needs complete overhaul. If there was only one thing I was going to put in an ad on a bike, I would not highlight it has been sitting for a long, long time. If I did bring it up, I would couple it to a statement like: "recently pulled out of storage, fully serviced new tires, bearings and grease, ready to ride".

Bikes decay in storage, grease goes solid, cables freeze up and rust, tires start cracking, etc.

Thanks for your honesty guys! I was advised by a 3rd party that it was worth more with the original parts. It has been hanging in a loft for some time now.

The seat is not ripped at all? maybe it's the profile of material under the seat.

Maybe I'll send it in to a specialist and just keep it for my wife.

Regards

Jay from Canada.

11+ years later and I'm just about to list a 'Little Brother / Little Sister' to the OP. 52cm frame, same specs, same goofy seat nose... and it's back into the $500 range here in Toronto.

I remember when you could buy a brand new Miele Tournet for $450 CDN and that was MSRP!
