Trek 1200
Just picked this up today from local co-op. It is a Trek 1200 aluminum (6061 T6 Alcoa Al) w/ a steel fork. Full 105 group (bio-pace cranks), matrix (semi aero?) grey anodized wheel set w/ matrix sealed hubs. It's about a 58cm (give or take I think). It needs tubes, both prestas are broken. I put a different set of wheels on it and went for a 10 mile ride and was quite pleased at how responsive it is. I need to put a real seat on it and probably a slightly shorter stem, but not an immediate priority. It needs a bath and a polish (FILTHY) but everything works and nothing appears bent or damaged. Here's a pic (more to follow when it's cleansed properly). I seem to have a strange affinity for this color combo....
I know it's not steel, but what would be an appropriate price if I end up selling it?
Thanks

There's a 1988 Trek 1400 on ebay right now. You might want to watch and compare yours.
And I just looked, there's a 1200 on there as well, not as good a shape as the 1400.

Thanks. I often forget to look on ebay for comparable bikes. It looks like there is a 1200 for $10.50 and a very nice looking 1991 1400 for $335.00, so I'm guessing I fall in between somewhere. Even if the bike ends up not being worth that much, I now have a matching 700c front fork for my 610 (plus 105 group etc).

Fully rehabbed, cleaned up and ready to ride around here: $225. Treks are very popular around here, but buyers are really looking for the steel ones.

Nice score! It's an '88. Trek called that color "denim blue".
You could probably get about $175-250 here on the CL, but if I were you, I'd part it out and use these SLR brakes and the 105 pedals to upgrade another bike, keep whetever else you might need and ebay the rest.

I agree with wrk101 and E, $200.00-$250.00 cleaned up in nice shape. I have a similar bike and I love it. I upgraded mine to STI levers and use it for local club rides.

+3, Trek is a good name and there are no shortage of folks willing to buy aluminum. So I'd agree with the $200/$225 estimates. If it were mine, that's what I'd be looking for.

Here in Philly, I'd bump the value to over $300 fully cleaned and overhauled. I've sold two '89 Aluminum Treks within the last year, a 1400 at $340, and a 1000 at $300. Both had a huge number of responses, and both sold almost immediately to the first person to view it.
Here they are:
