Old huffy tandem bike (need to know year!)

Hello everyone! im new to this website and i am so excited to join this community. i recently purchased a old huffy tandem bike and would like to know the year on it. i cant read the serial number due to rust, but any insight on the bike would be greatly appreciated.

i took the pic at night and i am in the process of restoring it. im working on de-rusting the whole thing. so far about 5 hours in and not even halfway done...

thanks!!!

1970's. The brake calipers and stem probably have date codes.

Honestly, and I'm not being a smart ass, but I'd just sand off the heavy rust and spary paint it with Rustoleum. Materials nad parts for a full resto job will cost more than the bikes worth.

Thanks for the insight. Im not really looking for a full restoration as in back to the same condition it was in. What i would like to do is make it ride-able. I just purchased new tires and tubes, and i did have to get a brand new shimano derailler. i had thought it would be ride-able after that, but turns out i need new chains too (the old derailler was a lot smaller than the new one). Ill be working on it tomorrow and hopefully i get it fully up and running. i will post picks after ive completed just in case anyone cares.
