Old Peugeot.. How do I know if it's worth it?

I'm trying to get a relatively cheap bike for a good friend of mine. The guy doesn't put any details (not that I'd know the difference anyways). In general are old Peugeot's worth $200ish? Or does it really depend on what model it is?

The only way to make sure you don't pay too much is to educate yourself or take an educated buyer with you. Spend some time searching this forum and google, and you can pretty quickly become an educated buyer. Are all old Peugeots worth $200 ish? No, read some of the other recent Peugeot threads, there was one worth about $10 to $25. A lot of them are not worth $200 ish.

That appears to be in the '83 or 84 range based on what I can see decal wise. I don't remember seeing those decals on a PX though there are a few PSV's floating around on these forums with that style of decals. A PSV i would say is worth 200 easily. The other bikes i've seen wearing those decals.... not so much. Unless, of course, you're in a very hot market.

+1. Looks to have suicide levers and gutripper shifters, so likely not a PX/PSV. $150 would likely be absolute max, if it fits you and you need a bike.
