Shogun and Nishiki Mixte
While hunting for some random parts in a pile of "junk" bikes I found a semi stripped Nishiki Mixte; decent red paint, high tensile steel, sugino cranks etc. I also found a Shogun mixte, Tange (maybe Champion?) #5, no wheels, shimano alivio components, chipped and scratched paint, no "real" rust. The pile is going to the scrapyard so they would be free or close to free. There also was a larger Schwinn 10spd (looked Varsity like) name began w/ an R, complete from what I could tell (it was @ the bottom of the pile). Are they worth getting? I know pics are required but, I don't have any so we shall have to use our imaginations. Remember Mr. Rogers? Thanks

Ok, I guess I should've known that answer. Approximate value? Both will need chains, cables and wheels (might be able to scrounge some out of the pile). Either that or they might make fantastic trade fodder....

Trade fodder, unless you find a donor bike. If I saw a $20 bill on the ground, I would pick it up. Same in this case. But without the parts to finish, you will not get much more than that for them. Depending on condition, you might get $25 to $50 per bike ($50 would be pristine paint). I will even pick up Huffys and Roadmasters on the curb. I will either remove reusable parts, or more often, I just take them to my favorite thrift store. They can sell any bike in less than a day, even junk. Beats filling up the landfill.

They are worth getting. The Schwinn is probably a Racer, which was succeeded by the World models. Fixed up around here it will bring you $50-75. The mixte bikes will get you $100-150 each around here if all ready to go. Worse comes to worse, put them on CL as framesets at $50 each and see whether they fly...
