Is a Free Spirit-Brittany Sears and Roebuck worth anything?

If the Free Spirit bike is complete and usable, it is a good bike. Think of it as basic transportation.
I have a couple of really nice 12-speed Free Spirit road bikes, including an Aero. As Department Store bikes go, they are not bad. Better than Huffy !!
In some areas, like the big Canadian city nearest me (Toronto) where any vintage road bike that is made in France or Italy disappears as soon as you walk away from it, no matter how securely chained & locked, a Sears Free Spirit has the advantage of at least still being there when you return for it.

I have found those models to be a step up from the average department store bike and nice as a casual neighborhood or recreational rider. Worth the time for a little clean up and new set of tires - IMHO.

See a few nicer 12-speed Free Spirit bikes and one laughable old dog with castings that look like hand-ground brass plumbing fittings but coarser:

Note the brown bike with the suede seat and the unusual setup for the gear selector levers on the top rail with a vertical drop to the lower tube before proceeding down to the derailleurs.

On the way to a clean-up...
