Sourcing a part
Not sure if this is the right forum...any ideas where to buy a threaded dust cap for a Sugino crank for my old Bridgestone Kabuki? It's slotted which seems like it is defeating it's purpose but I'm missing one.--Dave

Hello the ISO/Trade thread might be a better place. I believe the 'dustcaps' are there more to protect the threads so the slot is no big deal. you may never find an exact replacement but here is a good sub. https://loosescrews.com/index.cgi?d=s...d=300248022999
you may get kucky and find one on Ebay or in the trade threads though

+1 ebay. You might not find an exact duplicate, so you might have to buy a pair and replace both of them. There are some for sale on ebay all of the time.

I see one set for $40 on Ebay and the aren't even an exact match. That may be more than I paid for the bike back in the day! I may have to settle for generic plastic push in style (cheap). Thanks for input, guys.--Dave

That's one reason some of us recommend donor bikes. You can sometimes find a bike in really poor shape in that $10 to $20 price point. Just one or two parts makes a donor worth it. For instance, I recently picked up a Nishiki in really poor shape. But it had a good crankset with similar dust caps, good bottom bracket, good stem and bars, good seat post, good rear derailleur.
To the comment below: you are definitely right. I have a bicycle junk yard in the basement right now..... I need to make a donation run to the nearest co-op.

My wife would kill me if I started collecting old bikes for parts (we're in the process of trying to downsize). Probably have to go with a substitute like Bianchigirll pointed to for $2.
