Looking for info on craigs list find GT strike specialized tri spoke carbon wheel set
Came across a CL deal, Bike is complete but needs overhaul, LBS though Id have to put 2/$300 into it to get it road worthy. I am thinking or parting it out but need some info...
I think it has shimano 1000 components? , LBS said a step below 105's
( probably not worthy selling, just toss in parts box)
Its a 1994 GT Spike Road bike, 58cm frame, (1'' steering tube) aluminum color in very good shape, very light ..
It has tri spoke Specialized carbon/aluminum wheel set...
LBS advice was to strip components and clean the frame/fork and put on ebay, do the same with the wheel set.
Can anyone give me value, and some information about what I have?

One step below 105 would be RX100. The wheelset alone should bring $400-$500 US. The frame should bring $75-$150 US. But then again, ebay is often a crapshoot.

+1 On ebay. +1 It is a crap shoot.
ebay is the land of huge variance. An item can bring $200 today, and $50 tomorrow. How are your marketing skills? Are you willing/able/ready to carefully package and ship all items? If you want the buyer to handle that end of the transaction, or you want to just drop the item off at your local bike shop, have them pack it for you, and upcharge the buyer, you can forget about ebay. Local pickup only = sell on Craigs List. I troll the local pickup only ebay sales and also bikes in my general area with insane shipping charges for deals. I will pick them up, so I avoid the headache. I have gotten complete bikes like a nice Univega for $20 that way.
Unless you live in one of those insane bike markets, I have had ZERO luck getting anywhere close to market value out of Craigs List. In my area, Craigs List buyers are looking for bikes ready to ride, and not parts.
I have occasionally scored some great parts off of Craigs List for this reason.
Shimano 1000 does not compute. Very likely RX100, which are decent, solid components, but nothing special.

Thx..
Thanks for the info, yes rx100 componets, and it's a GT strike lol..
It's a cool looking bike and if it was my size
I would keep it and fix. eBay sounds like
The way to to, I have been selling on eBay
For yrs and top priority always packing/shipping well.
That's great news on the parts, I was thinking 4/500
For the wheels..
What are these type wheels used for, ate they
Suited for daily riding or are they cycle cross or
Triathalon wheels ?
Can any of you give me some listing
Advice for the description ?
Thx..

The wheels are definitely aimed at the triathlon/time trial market. In my opinion they are far too stiff for everyday riding. I have the 650C cersion on my GT Vengeance and it's a good thing I don't have a lot of cavities, otherwise it would get darned expensive having to constantly replace the fillings.
