***Help With My 1971 Schwinn Stingray Deluxe!!!***
Hello,
I am new to the forum and needed some help. I just recently purchased a Schwinn Stingray and I am pretty sure it is a 1971 (2nd letter is a "G"). I just wanted to know what it is worth in its present condition, and how much you think it would cost to get it restored. I would appreciate any help you guys could give me. I uploaded 10 pretty good pictures, so hopefully that will provide a good enough look for you guys to help me.

Thanks,

Watch the sting rays on ebay for a while, that would give you your best idea on price. Certain options are worth a lot of money but I'm not sure which they are as I'm really more of a Bantam kid of guy. Having original tires seems to help value, too.
You could also try over at the Schwinn forum.

I just picked up a Stingray and had no idea of it's value. I didn't get much of a response here. I posted on the Schwinn forum, colletor's forum and recieved a few responses within hours of posting. There are some dudes over there that really know this stuff.

What a joke!!!
I just wanted to thank all of you for helping me. I have learned more about my bike here than anywhere else! NOT!!! Not 1 response that was useful in an entire day. Note to all Moderators, this is bogus! I am officially deleting my membership or just never coming back to this website. You have done nothing but waste my time.
Thanks Again,

I see what you guys are saying. I apologize for getting angry. I don't know why the album didn't come up. I'm trying to figure that out now. I just expected someone to post anything, something. I go no responses in an ENTIRE DAY of sitting by my computer and refreshing the page. I am just used to other forums, like GlockTalk, that respond to your question or problems within an hour. Does ANYONE have any idea about value or restoration of my bike? The Schwinn Forum is closed for the week, and I was hoping someone would know something here. I'll let you guys know when photobucket is working.

your link works.......but I don't know anything about kids bikes values.......I will say that it looks to be in remarkable condition for 40 years old......you probably already know that the seat post is bent; but that's easily replaced.........good luck!

Okay, thanks for the reply. At least someone said something! I'll look around some more. If anyone else has something they want to say, feel free, but I'm going to wait for the Schwinn Forum to get back online, or just sell the dang thing. I'm thinking ask $250 take $200. I saw a beautiful example of mine, restored, going for $500. I figure $300 should get it in that sort of shape. Thanks for the help everyone!

I restored a bike like this a few years ago for a friend, they're fun to ride but I have no idea on how to value them. Awesome color for the bike though with the matching grips and saddle, true banana seat.
Good luck finding someone who can acturately apraise it.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

It's worth an easy $300. You put it up on Ebay and could get more, if there gets to be a feeding frenzy on it.
That's the original Schwinn Approved banana seat, by the way, it looks like. I had a stingray just like it, but in green, when I was a wee lad of 10.

Like most anything, their selling price has taken a hit in the last couple of years. I have seen some about like yours that used to bring $500, but now it is hard to get over $200. Go to E Bay, sign in, go to advanced search, type in Scwinn Stingray, check completed sales, & you will get a good idea. Maybe this link to an unsold bike will help.
