1980's raleigh team usa

i have the opportunity to purchase this bike and i am wondering if it is close to worth what the guy is asking for it. i took it for a ride and ultimately i am willing to pay for it based off of the feel of the bike. i have done my research and i just wanted to get some second opinions. the guy is asking 370. it is a raleigh team usa 555sl. any thoughts?
i plan on adding better components over time but this is what the bike comes with...?

Seat tube (size): 54cm c-to-c
Diacompe brakes
Suntour 5000 front and rear derailleurs
Suntour friction shifters
Raleigh double crankset 52/42
Freewheel 6-cogs 13/23
Araya 27" x 1-1/4" wheels with stainless steel spokes

Bikes: Was Fuji and got my grails (Pro, Pro SR, Design Series, & Ti). Now I hunt 50's and older road bikes.

$370 seems pretty high to me, but I will defer someone more experience with Raleigh pricing.

It isn't completely fair to compare to this price, but here is a Raleigh USA that sold for $150. If I had to guess a good price, I would say $250, in ready to ride shape.

For just a bit more than your seller is asking, you could possibly find a Competition, which is a far more collectible bike.

ha. wow. thanks for your comments i am actually not getting this bike now. to be honest ive been riding for a long time but never really gotten into the history of or really even quality of ride. Ive built a lot of bikes for absolutely no money and that is what i have ridden for years. Usually huffy frames with pedals off another bike. Im in the process of looking for a relatively cheap bike to tour across the US. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, as i said i am very uneducated as to what might be a good starting bike that i could replace components over time. hoping to take off in april 2011

What area are you in? Do you plan on doing a supported ride or are you loading your bike up?

i am loading the bike down but not with too much of a load. I will be working at farms across the country so carrying food and things of that nature wont be necessary. I will only be taking the essential camping items and very little else. I imagine i will be sleeping on the road about 3 or 4 nights a week and staying at farms give or take some weeks for the other nights.
