Miyata 1200, HMIIW?
I have an '83 Miyata 1200, pretty rare bike..made one year in gold. Made again in '89 if I recall, but in silver. Part of Miyata's pro series, but a non-racer look.

Found it all orginal, even the bar tape. Have updated the drivetrain, but retained all the OEM parts, which were perfect. Conidtion is vg, only a few storage marks on the paint, decals are clean and crisp.
Seems to me it's better find than a 1000, but an odd duck. A gentlemen's racer. so to speak.
What do you think it might be worth on national auction, like eBay?
Note: Not selling, just curious about the community of opinion.

My guesstimate would be $250 to $300. It is non-indexed, which , if you look around on local CL's, you can buy 2 to 3 year old STI road bikes (Sora or 2300) in this same price range.

Need to post pictures of the actual bike.
As far as ebay, there is huge variance on prices, sometimes bikes go for way over market, sometimes they go for less.
I would not consider it a more valuable bike than a Miyata 1000. Higher end vintage touring bikes bring a hefty premium over similarly equipped racing bikes.
$250 to $300 for a two to three year old SORA bike would be really cheap around here. I have sold a handful of them this year, for quite a bit more.

LOL, I think that's pretty far off the mark. Why would someone want a indexed vintage bike? That's like a walmart bike appraisal. Anyway, each to their own value. Though, I agree that 1000s have gained a cult following.
