SpeedPlay Pedals - came on a flip
I guess this is totally non-C&V, but I thought some of you would know about clipless pedals...
I have these SpeedPlay pedals that came on a flip.
They weigh just 140g the pair - so I suspect they're Titanium spindles and carbon.
- Except that they have a phillips instead of a torx screw and a snap-on instead of a screwed-on dust cap, they look just like Speedplays' X-1 clipless pedal:
https://www.speedplay.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.x
The cleats are available on the web for $37....
- So what do you think would be a "reasonable" price?

Thanks ftwelder -
I will give your suggestion a shot.
- In the past I've sometimes sold things far too cheaply because I thought I needed to start really low to start the bidding, but the way eBay is, it sometimes stays that way with only one late bid.
If I go with the 50% of cost formula instead, the worst thing that could happen is it won't sell - and then I can relist.
BTW - If I do actually realize that price, I'll be ecstatic. (I didn't pay much for the bike)

You are selling them without any cleats? I had to get cleats for a pair of Speedplay X5 that came on a used bike. The cleats retail new for what I ended up paying for a slightly used pair of X2 pedals with the cleats included ($50 with shipping). A search of Ebay closed auctions would be another good test of value, especially if there are no cleats- interest is reduced to someone that already has cleats or is looking for a pair of pedals for a second bike or backup spare in many cases.

The sale price on these pedals at Nasbar is $330.
- To me that is absolutely crazy - but I guess there are guys who will pay those prices to save a few ounces over the X5 vesrion or Dura Ace or whatever. . .
I listed on eBay today - so I'll just wait and see how it goes, and I can always relist for a lower price later.
PS- I've just had one offer for $20 so I'm ahead of the game already !

you should do alright. i've bid on speedplays before and am never willing to go as high as others. I only buy on ebay if it's a great deal, otherwise i go to store with return policies.

Post your ebay link (or PM me). I've been dreaming of finding a pair of steel or Ti Speedplays, I've got a pair on one bike and shoes with the cleats. I'd even work a bike swap if we were closer, but it looks like the bidding will get out of my reach soon enough.
It's a neat deal when you can sell the takeoff parts for more than the re-pedaled donor bike probably sold for. Nice deal for you. I'm sitting here in envy.

on edit: by weight they are the ti pedals. I see a BIN of $175 on ebay and the auction isn't exactly being snapped up, so act accordingly. There is active bidding on speedplays, I wouldn't worry too much about getting a fair price.
