1980's Torpado Beta - what is it worth?

3 Attachment(s)
I have an early 1980's Torpado Beta, in great riding condition. It has a little rust on the frame but all Torpado markings, stickers, and labels are easily legible. Componets are:

- Columbus allele tubing
- Original chrome forks and frame
- shimano 105 derailers, brakes, levers, crankshaft, shifters
- Cinelle barstem
- Giro handle bars
- Capagnolo Montreal rims (great shape)
- new tires

All componets are in seemingly excellent condition.

I want to sell this bike and wonder what its value is. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I am in the Southern California area.

Pretty bad rust issues but the brand is well known enough that you can still probably get $250 or so.

Thanks Jet sanchEz. Was wondering earlier if the frame (rust issues), could be refurbished by someone who does such a thing for a living (If there is such a profession). The rust seems to be the only thing wrong with this bike - it rides like a dream and is super light.

thanks.

was this one a trainer? there are lots of place that paint frames. you can have almost anything you want done from about $300, one color no clear and up to $700+ for multi colors, candy, pearls, handrubbed clear you name it.

I can't deem to find the home page Bilenky Cycles in the Philly Pa area. there is also Spectrum cycles near Allentown Pa these thre plus dozens more

The 105 parts should bring at least $250. Given the condition of that frame, you are best served parting it out. Wheelset and 105 parts will bring more than what the bike would sell for complete, probably quite a bit more. Buyers will have a tough time looking past the rust. Those that can will expect to get a hefty discount. Then sell the frame as a project, someone will want it. Or if you want to mess around with it, read up on oxalic acid and go for it.

+1, value is in the parts.

Thanks for all of your input. Yes it was used as a trainer.
I really would hate to see this bike parted out though. It really dos ride like a dream. Its the lightest bike. I've ever been seen.it is too big for me otherwise I'd keep it
