1982 Schwinn Super Sport SP good buy?
A local is advertising an 82 Schwinn ss/sp for $125. According to him, the bike was ridden for one year, then put into storage where it was recently pulled out. EVERYTHING is original, down to the original tires and brake pads and "aero" water bottle. Thus, the components are listed in this add: https://bikecatalogs.org/SCHWINN/1982...LL/1982_07.JPG All the components are just as seen. The ad can be found at https://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218...d=&search=1982. I can do all sorts of maintenance and refurbishing, I'm just looking for a decent commuter bike that is gonna get me around and will last a long time. Is this a good buy, or should I keep looking? All the components seem like good quality. Thanks!

If it fits you, it is an excellent buy. The Schwinn Super Sport is a very nice machine. If I am not mistaken, weren't they made in Japan?
My God, double butted Chromoly tubing - you couldn't buy that today for love or money.
Alloy box rims.
Triple chainwheel up front
I would snap it up ASAP before somebody else does.

$125? If it's in decent shape, its a steal. Make sure it fits.

Sounds like a good deal...thanks for the info! I went and looked at the bike and looks like a time capsule, straight out of 1982. I don't think it would take much to get it up and running. The owner is gonna patch the tire so I can give it a test run. I hope it fits, but it MIGHT be a bit on the big side. We'll see!
