Dawes ultra galaxy help
Hi.
This is just me being curious.
I was given a bike from a friend a while ago because they had just got a nice shiny new one. from what i know it's a dawes ultra galaxy 12 speed. it looks old and isn't too rusty but it is starting to age. i have oiled it up and it is very ridable (i use it every day to work) but i was wondering about the age. I cant find any info on these bikes any further back than the 2008 models and it is definatley older than that.
Anyone got any ideas on the age? I'll get some photos on here asap but there are loads of manufacturers stickers on it etc and the crossbar seems to have a very nice join on one end and looks like it has been welded on the other. however it doesn't look like a bodge job- it looks like it is ment to be like that... I don't know...
Sorry to ramble... Any help anyone can give in dating it and perhaps a more specific model/make number would be fantastic.
Thanks loads!!
Tommy

2008 is likely when Bikes Direct bought the name. post some good pics of it showing the luggs and components and we will see if we can help identify it

The model name Galaxy was used by Dawes, from, I believe, the mid60's to the mide 80's, when they were made in England. Ultra Galaxy does not ring a bell, and may be a Chinese made bike.
