'80's Cinelli track bike
 

I have Cinelli track bike with less than 500 miles that I bought new in the early eighties. It has Mavic rims from the early nineties and brand new Conti Sprinter Gatorskin tubler tires. The fork was drilled for a brake. What would the range for this bike be at this time? It also has a Cateye Strada Cadence computer.

I will try to get some pictures tomorrow. I am really just looking for a range. The bike has a few chips from being moved and stored but has never had any damage.

At the time Cinelli made Sprint and Omnium bikes. Sprint machines have 24 mm round blades, Omnium had 22 mm.
Size effects value.
Campagnolo will be expected for top value, including pedals. as will 165 mm cranks.
Cinelli 65 bend bars and a 2a stem will be the most prized.
The tires will not effect its value much, as they are not Pista tires, so it will be valued as w/o.
The computer is of little interest to a buyer, or will not garner much positive interest.
Drilling for a brake on the fork is a small bit of a downer, but so it goes, many track bikes got drilled. And it won't be raced in Japan for money anyway so it does not really matter, just a talking point to lower its value.
32 hole wheels will be a plus, but most were 36 back then.

I do not think its from the 80's. That is a good thing. If you wish to sell it ditch the bottle cage and computer. Wheels are an update. Thee BB cut outs have me intrigued. In a competitive selling arena, at least $2k.

Definitely earlier than the '80s judging on the head badge and downtube logo. $2k is about right but you might be better off to sell the frame/fork/headset on their own as a collector may not want the newer stuff on there. With some really good photos in natural light, you could get $1700 or $1800 on eBay. It is easier to ship a frame/fork as well so it is less work for you. Are the bars also Cinelli? Those alone could fetch upwards of a $100, they appear to be in great shape.

Actually upon reflection, I think that it is either a 1978 or 79. If I choose to sell it, I will certainly remove the computer and bottle cage. The bars are Cinelli as is the seat. The only thing that is not original are the wheels but I believe the hubs are original. I had my shop build the wheels so I think that it is only the rims that are new, and they date from the early 90's.
