Need to identify my $5.00 Garage sale Peugeot bike

Hello there,
I just bought a Peugeot bike on a garage sale for $5.00!
So far this is what I got:

PH8CE 54
It has this markings/labels on it: Record Du Monde

Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you.
Alex

54 cm PH8, color code CE? (whatever that is). Not sure about the year. Below is the catalog page from 1981. Can you post pictures of yours?

Its somewhere in the range of 79-83. Here is a site that may help you find some date codes on the components themselves:

It is obviously a P8, 54 CM is the frame size. I think it is likely from around '79. By '82/'83, I think it would have had cotterless cranks. I had a P8, but bigger, 57 CM, and it was a 1982. Sweet ride. Night very light, but a great ride.

Thanks for the input.

To whom it may concern or could help me out:
- I've just received my two new tires (27 x 1 1/4) and two tubes 700x23/25 32mm
Will these tubes fit on these tires? I think that when my wife place the order there was a 'wrong' choice made...please advice.
Thanks.

I was looking into tubs earlier today for my SS and it has 700c on it and I was looking for 700x25c tube and on alot of the boxes they said 700x25-35/27"1 1/8" - 1 1/4". But they could be using different rubber compounds that can either stretch more or less so that still doesn't mean that the ones you have will work. I say just try it and if they don't they will blow out or feel loose go for it. Just be careful.

Also, congrats on the bike, looks like you got a really good deal.

Yes, indeed...actually i bought two bikes, the Peugeot and a Univega Alpina Country mountain bike...great conditions too! Total price was $10.00 for the two of them.

Don't get uptight about the tubes. If they are the right diameter they will stretch and work over a wide variety of tire widths.
