Carlton Question

Was given the Carlton show below. Serial Number 3279810. Any information would be appreciate. The derailleur is marked Maeda Industries, the dropouts are stamped Y3132 so it looks like it is a 1967. Any idea the value on a bike like this?

Thanks,
Neil

The overall look of the bike is consistent with 1967. If that's the case, the suntour derailleur is not original. Your photos are not enough to tell me much more than that, though. The bike appears to be in excellent condition and I'm sure we'd love to see more photos.

There is a separate forum for appraisals etc, so if you're really interested in the value of the bike you should post it there, with more/better photos.

My first good bike, a 12th birthday present, in 1972 was a 5 speed Carlton that looks very similar to this. The only big difference I see is there doesn't appear to be a lamp bracket on the drive side front fork. I wish I'd never let go of that bike!

Oh well, I suggested he post pictures on the C&V forum when his original post here went un-noticed by Carlton aficionados. Seems like it worked for a while too. I guess I should have warned him not to ask about value.
