Should I get a Peugeot UO-8? (well that is what I think it is)
The guy that I met on craigslist is selling it for $200 (the bike is in great condition, and I don't know if the price is fair or not considering that the bike is low-end). Would it be wise for me to get the bike? I am going to be riding the bike a whole lot. I will be traveling about 150-200 miles weekly through hills and long roads, and I am not sure if the bike will be able to handle it.

UO8s are great riding, well built bikes, The bike will handle anything you can throw at it.
That said they are a bit heavy so climbing hills will be a bit harder than on a lighter bike but again those old low end Pugs are very comfortable and stable.
Pricewise, depends on your market but if it's in a good a shape as it looks and it tuned, greased and ready to ride I'd say $200.00 is reasonable.

I have a little problem now, so I was looking at other bike just for fun, but then I came across a Trek 420 road bike. Now I am not sure which one to choose from.

between the two I think I would buy the trek assuming they both fit.

The Trek is a much, much, much better bike and a better deal. Move quick, as steel vintage Treks do not usually last long.

Hi newer to the forum, but I have dealt with a UO-8. Another +1 for the Trek. The BB and all components are French threaded/sized which is not standard at all and is a pain in the ace to work on. Plus IMO the Simplex derailleurs (derailers if you're a SB fan) are very poorly constructed compared to Suntour of the day. If it was a PH-8 made in the 80s where they went with the standard British sizing and Sachs components I would probably go for the Peugeot. In this case though the Trek is where it's at.
