White LeTour, haven't looked at it yet, seller says it's a 70s model. It's got the "Chicago" branding on it but they look like the early 80s decals? What's this one worth? This could possibly be the beginning of my fixed build, or maybe something to flip to fund it.

I recently overhauled a LeTour. It looked similiar to your bike. I changed the handlebar and brakes to ones like the the originals (the comfort seat will need to be replaced also). I sold it for $220. To get similiar money, you will have to do likewise. In its present form, I would say the value is $100 to $150. Less if the tires are in poor condition.

What year is yours? It looks almost identical. I'm pretty sure this guy has his years wrong, this seems like an early to mid-80s bike based off the decals alone.

It's a 1987 model year Frost White Le Tour. Schwinn shut down all bicycle production at the Chicago factory in 1983, but continued to put "Chicago" on head badges until the 1992 bankruptcy because the company remained headquartered there although production was in Greenville MS, Waterford WI, Japan, Taiwan, and mainland China.

So what's a good price to pay for a bike like this? It looks like it's in good condition.

I'm sorry, but I misinterpreted your initial post. I didn't realize that you were buying.

For my LeTour, I spent $65 for the bike. I already had all the parts to return it to a dropbar bicycle. The only items that I spent money on was the cables and handlebar tape. Because I work part time at a bike shop, I bought these items at cost.

If you intend to flip, it can get costly costly. Also, you need to have bike skills to overhaul it (lube bearings, adjust derailleurs, adjust brakes, etc.). For most people, flipping doesn't work.

As to the value of this bike, it is hard to say. The photographs don't allow for closer inspection.

I have bike skills, but not the benefit of getting stuff at cost. I'd have to find handlebars. The asking price is $100, but I would definitely be talking him down from that, especially since he seems to be misinformed about the year of the bicycle.

It does appear to be in good condition, but someone has changed the handlebars and possibly other components, so it's not original. Assuming neither the seatpost nor the stem are are stuck and the frame and fork are straight, I'd guess it would sell for around $200-$250 in the S.F. bay area. It really depends to a great extent on the local market.
