1988 Trek 330 value
Going to sell this and keep my 1981 Miyata 610. I've seen similar bikes on eBay go for at least $300. Is this reasonable? Very good condition with a few paint touch-ups. Components seem original.

It's a ho-hum bike in a large size that really only has the Trek decal going for it value wise.
It's in nice condition, so $200 tops IMHO.
And I doubt I'd get that much here, even from a desperate Bostonian on a day trip.

I haven't seen similar bikes go for $300 on ebay. There's always the outlier, that auction that goes crazy, but in general, no. The more desirable 330 is the 1987, which had a Reynolds 531 main frame. True Temper does not get that kind of response. And that early indexed Suntour is not too popular either.
+1 XL size is a negative on value as well.
IMHO, ebay is best suited for something higher up the product line, or more desirable.
Mid 1980s tourers enjoy a 33% to 50% premium (or more). 400 series is better. Still, a steel Trek, any size, any model, is going to bring good money.
While it is unusual for ebay, I grabbed a Trek 620, all Reynolds 531, for $118. There is tremendous variance on ebay, some bikes go high, some go low, sometimes its due to a poorly crafted listing, other times its just luck.

I was comparing other 300-400 series Treks. Yes, most were older and some were mid 80's tourers. I still think it would be uncommon to grab any decent 80's Trek (on eBay) for under $300. I figured the difference would be the more modern components. Meh. CL it is. Thanks for the info, guys.

I have an '87 Trek 330, 21" size, Reynolds 531 tubes. It's completely trashed and needs a new wheelset as well as a full overhaul (for the third time!), but how much do you think it's worth? I sold it for $300 and bought it back a while ago.
