1988 Marinoni Special....What's it worth?

On a pretty Maryland spring day in 2009 a buddy saw this bike at a yard sale in the neighborhood and called me and interrupted my ride. He said there was an Italian bike for sale and that is was made in Canada. I laffed at my buddies description(didn't make sense). Since I know little about vintage bikes and my buddy knows even less I told him to forgitaboutit. I told him that I didn't want it...and he told me that he was buying it anyway. The bike turned out to be this 1988 Marinoni special ....a petite size 49 made in January 1988. It's equipped with shimano 600 components except for the rear cassette which is Dura Ace. I have grown to appreciate the craftsmanship, but the bike is way to small for me and I'm thinking of letting it go. What's it worth?

Beautiful bike.

Around here, I'd ask $400-475 for it. You might get more for it on Ebay. Most of the value is in the frame and wheels.

Unfortunately not what I think it should be worth...I did not do well on mine. I had a Frankenstein parts mix, but it was a higher end mix than your bike...on the flip side I think your's might be a touch cleaner.

I ended up getting around 400ish.

Perhaps they're better known here in Canada, most people I know of with an interest in cycling recognize the Maronini marquee.

Marinoni makes a beautiful bicycle... all the frame work and paint is done in house and the workmanship is very very good.

Because of the small size and condition it should fetch a decent price and to someone who appreciates a finely made bicycle should be willing to pay 400.00 and maybe a little more for such a nicely equipped bicycle.

The price of 600 tri colour / Ultegra has been creeping upwards and one could part it out and get a better return but a complete bicycle like this is a beautiful thing.
