What's my vintage Trek worth?
Hi! I work for a Trek dealer and I recently acquired a vintage Trek that was traded in to our shop. It's basically in 99% perfect condition, with only 2 small paint scuffs on the drive-side chain stay. I did some research on vintage-trek.com and believe I have figured out the model number and year: a 1981 Trek 614. It's honestly a very beautiful bicycle with MAYBE ten miles of use before me--clearly had been kept inside all the years--and even has the original Specialized Touring tires. The only immediately replaceable part are the brake hoods which had dried out after years of living in New Mexico. I've owned and drooled over many vintage bicycles and frames, but I've never seen something in such immaculate condition before. Any ideas what something like this could be worth?

In the condition you describe probably $250, maybe as high as $300. Model 614 was pretty low on the totem pole, although there aren't really any "low-end" vintage Treks like there are low-end Schwinns, Peugeots, Raleighs, etc.
Pictures? Please?

The 614 was not a low end offering by any stretch. The 600s all had Reynolds frames (at least the mains) and the 614 was a nicely equipped touring triple.
(You could do better than $300 for one even here in the epicenter of the world recession!)

I have a 1991 Trek 830. That is low end. Your bike should have a double butted Reynolds 531 frame and Suntour Cyclone drivetrain. Far from low end. In mint condition, you should be able to get around $400 for it in a decent market. I am not sure about New Mexico. I haven't seen a lot of C&V activity there.

Ok guys, check the spec sheet: https://vintage-trek.com/images/trek/...ek4_150_90.jpg
Yes, DB 531 main tubes, but I don't see Cyclone or triple cranksets on that page. Model 614 was 8th out of ten models. I know it's not a low end model, just low as far as Treks are concerned.
