Sometimes this place gets me.

Some of you guys are quoting prices on where you want to buy these bikes.
Like this one, 300... REALLY???

The group would sell for 200. without wheels, the wheels another 200.

As complete as this is, with proper ads, on a world wide site, this bike could bring 500-750.
If 2 collectors want it, well then the price would go up.

These bikes have a cult like following and most on here know it.

Oh well, rant over!

You better check ebay before you start ranting.... Bridgestone's do not sell for crazy high prices, unless it is a very rare bike like the 1982 Bridgestone Antare L.D.T. touring bike that just sold for $570.00

This bike is worth $475.00 -$500.00 shipped but $750.00 NO WAY!. If the seller want's to deal with ebay, pay their fees, and wait for their money till the buyer gets the bike great, then it will bring a little more, but not much and in my opinion, not worth the time and trouble.

Part it out, and sell it that way, if you want to spend the time boxing it all up, if the seller and shipping 5 or more boxes. Does the seller know how to properly do this, or will they need to pay a bike shop to do it?

I don't see $750 either, but if you get two bidders that want it, it is definitely possible. But as I edited my comments above, $350 is too low. $500 is a good place to start, and a part out will yield more (but is more hassle too). One advantage of a part out is that even though you will have more boxes to ship out, shipping small stuff is a lot easier than shipping a complete bike.

Assuming it is all original, it is going to have a Superbe Pro crankset, seat post, headset, derailleurs, levers, brake calipers and levers. That's a lot of Superbe Pro bits.

Agreed.

I raced one of these for a year in 1988.

Sold it to go to grad school.

The low down on this bike is simple though.

Nice, inexpensive racer.

I liked it "much" better than the RB-1 they handed me three years later.

Great handling, and all around decent crit bike.

Pretty too, at least I think so.

In fact, my friend I sold it to still has it and won't part with it.

Bridgestone's do sell for crazy high prices though.

I usually don't talk about prices for bikes I sell, but I'll illustrate my point.

I picked up a pumpkin orange XO1 (1993 sales receipt in bag with bike) at a garage sale a four years ago for a stupid low price.

Sold it a year later for $1,050.

Still had the nubs on the original tires.

The fellow I sold it to just pulled $1,400 for this same bike.

I almost bought it back, as the prices for these are continually headed north.

Also, I've owned 3 RB1s.

Not because they are great riders, at least to me. imho

It's because I can usually make $300 or $400 bucks a pop on these if I buy and sell right.

Strongly dis-agree. Shiping smaller boxes is MUCH easier than a whole bike!
And really simpler.

Nobody said getting the most for the bike was easy!
This time of year is harder to sell bikes than spring, but this bike will/should bring 500. all day.
I'm glad some others joined in here, because you and I do not see eye to eye on this at all!

Anyway... It's a very nice, complete bike that is worth more than the 300 dollars quoted earlier in the thread.
How much more? That is always the question! It's only worth what someone will pay.

Now if two people decide that they want the bike and can't live without it, who knows? The sky is the limmit.
If you don't find two at the same time then it's much smaller. Such is life!!

Good luck either way!

if it fit me, and it's nowhere close, I'd pay the 750 and be a happy person.
YMMV

This right here is going to bring a very nice sum in itself!
I would guess that group alone with wheels would bring 400+!

That would be just a guess, seeing as I have not seen such a group in a LONG time.
wrk is correct ... " thats a lot of superbe pro stuff all in one place!

Where on ebay do you see these bikes bringing that kind of money, asking and selling are two different things? Do a search........ It's very easy to ship a complete bike, I do not see the problem.

I agree certian models will sell high, but not this one. I would pay $500 for the bike, as a rider, but not for resale.

Last post on this, as you and I disagree;

Where do you see these, in this size, in this shape, with all original equment, come up at all!
You see them with up-grades....errr...not correct things! You don't see them like this often.

It's a collectors bike, for someone who has a few more than one bridgestone.
Someone who want it to be correct. Not close enough.

Are they out there? Sure. The question is how do you find them.

LOL! If I knew that, I would have a few more $$$$ for bikes for me!!!!

I rode the bike for the first time in many years, all worked great except the pedals were hard to get into. Luckily, they come out fine though! Rode about 36 miles & it was a dream. Forgot how nice riding this bike is & pretty darn fast. Still don't fully understand the chain being cross linked or whatever. All I know is that is shifted great. Went up some nice rollers out here in Sonoma County.

Now the dilema. Do I sell it, or keep it thinking it will continue to go up in value?

I can't see this EBay post listed above for a 1982 Bridgestone even being close. Basic hodgepodge of components, unlike the Suberbe Pro full set.

Well if I KNEW that answer,

I would be very well off.
Who can say what will become more valuable.
It's a guess at best.

I would keep it and ride it.

To get full value out of fleece-bay, it will take four things:

1. Parting it out.

2. Perfect fleece-bay feedback AS A SELLER.

3. Great marketing, full sized pics, parts all sparkling.

4. Some luck, fleece-bay is the land of variance. An item can sell for $200, and five minutes later, the same exact item, in the same condition, can go for $50. (Minimize the variance by great marketing).

As far as the other bike as a comparison, touring bikes almost always bring MORE, often a lot more, even with mixed components. Front and rear racks, overall great original condition, a decent buy for $570. Original front racks are kind of hard to come by. I tend to sell touring bikes for 75% to 100% more than the comparable racing bike from the same era.

Well I've decided to try the EBay thing with a minimum bid of $750. If it happens, so be it. I can continue to hang on to it with the hopes that it will continue to increase in value. I'll clean it up more as the only thing I did was to wipe it down with a rag to get the dust off before I took the pictures. Hopefully I can do this in the next week or two. maybe a good project over the Thanksgiving holiday.

I haven't listed it on EBay yet. I'll have to measure the top tube length & get back to you.

The top tube length center to center is 21 1/2" or ~ 55cm. Hope this helps.

Great bike Dan.
I have the same 87 3000 all original although in a 53cm. & sans pump.
Love the bike, a bit more aggressive than the RB that replaced it two years later.

I know most of the people on the board are in this to make money but, I feel like it would be a crime to part a bike in this condition out to make an extra 100 dollars.

ya, it would be a shame to part it out. I was tempted to buy it, but I won't because I will end up replacing a lot of the parts to make it a more modern rider. It needs to go to someone who will ride it as is.

Agreed about the parting it out piece.

These are great bikes that ride very well.

There are very few if any bikes I own that don't have price tags on them though.

I just like to try lots of bikes to see what they are all about, and then eventually find a new home for them.

Flipping or matchmaking.

Doesn't matter to me what people call it.
