mid 80's Cannondale
I picked this bike up the other day, CL find. I don't know much about Cannondales. The frame is scraped up a bit, but being black it would be an easy touch up job. But really what my question is, does the frame have much value by itself? I was thinking of parting it out as its mostly Campy. But when I strip it down what sort of price might I expect for the frame?
Additionally, one of the cable guides broke free from the frame. Its a plastic bit. Now there is a small piece of plastic rolling back and forth inside the top tube. I wa thinking of squirting some sticky stuff into the tube to "trap" the rolly polly plastic bit. What do you think? And are new guides available?

try these links, I had a 90's sr400 a while back. I never really did too much digging but I remember new cable guides being impossible to get.
As for the piece inside I would tear it down like you are gonna do anyhow, and see if it can come out of the head or seat tube? I would try it before shooting glue into the frame.

Sorry, those cable clamps are long obsolete. I get mine from a donor frame I am holding onto. If you can find any, grab them quick.
From what I can see of your loose clamp, I have superglued them down in place. I am NOT recommending that step, but it worked fine for me. Anytime I have salvaged a clamp from my donor frame, I invariably break off part of the locking tab.

I think I would leave like that. I am not sure it is stock but with a NR/SR mix and nice set of tubulars you'll haver a bike lighter than most any modern 'brifter' equpped carbon bike

"87-'88 SR series frame, already been refinished once (those are not original decals). Top tube cable guides are indeed impossible to find (BOO!) but those are great riding bikes. Sadly, due to top tube cable guide availability, frame value probably = $100 at best. Looks like a 60 (check under the chain stays for the serial number, first two digits are the frame size in cm), not a popular size, I'm trying to sell one now WITH three cable guides and no takers. Sad.

I'm getting all kinds of different feedback on this bike. Me, I never liked the big tube look of Cannondale, or the big block lettering. Others I talk to say they are great riding bikes and stiff and responsive. I've got it on CL for cheap. If it doesnt sell, I'll strip the components, sell the frame for whatever I can get and build up something for myself, or sell the parts. Interesting market these days.
