Kuwahara Mixte for Xmas for wife?

Does this bike look like reasonable bike for my wife at $260?

Not looking to flip, just looking to ride.

Looks a little high to me, even for a fully reconditioned bike, but I guess they need to make some profit. One thing I noticed is that it advertises "Suntour componentry" but it has a Shimano Eagle (1970s vintage, low-end) rear derailleur.

I bought a very similar Mixte for my GF (badged Apollo but made by Kuwhara) she loves it , but I don't think it would be worth this asking price. $260 can buy you a mixte with better quality frame / alloy wheels at least.

+1

It's reconditioned, they did a very good job on it, but it's still a lower-end bike. How much does your wife ride? My girlfriend had a Trek 720 MultiTrack and I wanted to get her into road biking and found a 1985 World Sport for $60. The World Sport was heavy and not much fun to ride. Replaced with a 1988 Schwinn Tempo which she enjoys much more (paid $150.)

Personally I would not pay anywhere near $260 for that bike, I'd consider it at half that.

I bought a bike for my wife for Christmas once. It is now known as the 'divorce' bike.

+1 I wouldn't buy C&V bike for a wife or girlfriend or any woman unless she specifically asked for a C&V bike. Most women would prefer a shiny new bike or better yet something in a shiny diamond type thing.
